Ever wonder why some days your wing seems to be a bit off? Sometimes the landing seems faster than other times, the sink rate makes you go home and get on the bathroom scales, unless you are the only one underperforming, then take heart that it could be “Pressure Density” to blame.

Wind Shadow / Wake Turbulence

Flying sites in Botany Bay can be exciting and rewarding; however, caution must be maintained for the presence of Turbulence.

There are three types of turbulence, all down wind menaces from the source; we are all familiar with wake turbulence from other gliders, particularly when the upwind glider is “chandelling low” across the lip of the hill, landing down wind in this turbulence has to be treated with caution, the further back the better. When “chandelling low, be conscious of others wishing to land.

My entry for the Club Logo comprises of an abbreviation of, "Sydney Hang Gliding Club", the colour scheme suggests the Sky, the land, and the sea which are all the mediums associated with our sport. the design applied was derived by using the "kiss" principle.

Having 2 Funs, (one for sunday best) my old Fun has a soft / loose sail from many hours of flying, uv exposure and salt air, however, it is a dream to "crank around" on the dunes with some turns seemingly on a wing tip.

At the forthcoming club meeting Treasurer John intends to table a submission to vote for or against  full site back-office subscription management for membership renewals.

This will simplify the process for most people but there is a small merchant payment provider cost to be incurred.

The flip side is that it will likely facilitate membership, generating additional numbers.

From time to time I am asked this simple question. And sometimes I can be asking myself the same question, even when in the air.
So, what is it that keeps me coming back? What is it that draws me back to strap myself into a glider and run off a hill?
