Draft Bathers Way public domain plan
Last Wednesday, Splint and I attended a community workshop hosted by council for them to get community feedback on their plans for upgrades to the Bathers Way.
The Bathers way is the walking/running/cycling path that stretches from Merewether through to Newcastle along the coast, and so any changes to the route could have an impact on our flying activities.
Magic afternoon......for some :-)
Sundee was a magic day on the coast for footblending and moon watching, and whatever else you had your mind set on I suppose. Don decided to test the footblender, having recently discovered and expelled some gremlins, to see if it now had power to spare.
Young Sally, one of our newly qualified and local pilots (Congrats Sal!!!), and myself were backup crew. We decided that this was definately a good use of our time and filmed bits and pieces to share with all.
So here's the link. (just had iphones for use as cameras sorry).

NHGC and hang glide promo ABC news
Dalby comp covered by ABC news. As our locals have taken out first and second it has good local interest.
http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2012/05/01/3492822.htm?site=newcastle
The photo is one I took of Gavin Myers as we left the start circle 5k out of Dalby. The caption should be let the race begin.
SF4. The wash-up
When they'd shot the final scene of the film Ben Hur, Charlton Heston was quoted as saying," Well shoot...No-one's gunna top that in my life time...pting"*.
How right he was.
And how lucky he was - he passed away long before Stingfest Four hit the sky. Had he not, his devastation would have been three dimensional, pointy, and difficult to pass. So massive was the day that even the sun got stage fright till the last minute.
Stingfest Four was big.
Stingfest 2012 video
I have put together a short video of footage and stills from Stingfest 2012. It's HD and seems to be taking a while to load so be patient.
Thanks again to Pete, Christine, Alby, Jan, Billo and Airborne for a great day and evening. And to everyone else, sorry about the snoring!
Splint.
Video:Stingfest Four is GO!
The weather looks great.
Stingfest is ON.
Aim to be there for a "briefing" around 11am. We'll go over a few things that are good to know.
Please remember to sign a waiver when you arrive if you haven't done so before.
Don't forget your barbie food and other good things (like cash for your tows).
Remember... the KING is among us. He/she just doesn't know it yet.
See you there
Coming to Stingfest Four? Read on...
Looks like the weather will be OK so lets roll it for this weekend (28th/29th). Unless something drastic changes, its go go go. Check here Friday night just in case.
The rough plan is for heaps of flying Saturday, dinner, decapitation and coronation Saturday evening, followed by heaps of flying Sunday. Its only a rough plan but I think it has legs.
Stingfest Four. April 28/29. Denman.
Its 2012. Its April. Its time.
It's like the academy awards of hang gliding. It's the only event in the southern hemisphere SO exclusive that Miranda, Angelina & Brad won't get past the doorman. But you, YOU are invited.
Stingfest Four is here.
FOUR promises to be almost as good as the last three... COMBINED! You owe it to your grandkids' grandkids to be there. It'll be a crazy mix of flying, feasting and fun that hits the spot and lets you do the same, non-stop all day.
RIP David Seib
Jonny's Facebook status today states that Dave Seib crashed on launch in Brasil during the competition and did not survive. He was an excellent pilot and very well respected in the flying community world wide. Certainly all the NHGC pilots will miss him.

Coming of Age
Hi All
On the 16th April this year I will be turning 55 yrs young! I feel that this is an event worth sharing with friends. However since this is a Monday night I think the 15th would be a better day to celebrate it.
So on Sunday the 15th from 5pm to late I would like to invite you to come and share some tall tales and ales, or whatever is your fancy, at my place.
Airborne Demo Days at Denman
With perfect autumn conditions, Airborne, Pete & Christine put on another spectacular weekend.
There was a T-lite, a V-lite, an SST winged trike, Pete's trike, and a dozen or more pilots flying all sorts of wings. Silly made an appearance in his gyro, and a mate of his came along in a quicksilver. Pilots turned up from Taree, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and Perth.
The tows were slick, and the thermals typical for Autumn; fat and smooth.
Thank you to Airborne for putting on the weekend, and to Chris and Pete for hosting us yet again.
Here's just some of the action:
Denman demo day pics
Just a few pics from the weekend for you.
Plenty more hidden here...(I hope)

Best Valley day for Years Take 2 .. or is that Take 3
Although Scott and Alby have already described the day I thought I’d contribute (Alby said I had to). This is from the angle of someone who tends to struggle a bit with all this stuff (XC flying that is, make that coastal as well). But all that got a little better that day because it was probably the best inland day for 3 years. As Cammo says ‘those good days don’t come around that often’
A Bit Of Culcha For Ya
My first edit on the iPad. Transferred from GoPro to iPad via SD card.
This was a light day, as you can see from the number of PGs, but as usual there were resident bubbles to get you higher than the lift band. Still, I couldn't quite make it into the park at Dicko.

Best valley day in years...
As Scott wrote, Sunday was an awesome day to be in the air. Nice spacing on the thermals, decent bases and streets with a tail wind right to goal. Now I think about it, it was probably the best days flying in the valley since hang gliding dream time (read "drought years").
What made it so good?
Stinging it to Denman
We made it to Denman! Great flying day!
Great turnout at SE Broke: WA Jason and Simon, Conrad, Bongers Darren Nigel Garry, Jason, Alby, Ebbs, Brizo the super driver , maybe more, did I forget someone?
Ebbs, alby, myself, Jason arrived at Pete and Christines for stingfest beers.
can I see your papers please !!!
In light of recent CASA raids, is it possible that HG Pilots may have to carry their passports and other papers for after they land?
"From which country have you flown?"
