OK so I'm not the first to see this post, but I do seem to be the first to reply.
So, the first question was.... "Do we need this site?"
Hmm, that's a curly one.
My thinking is 'yes, we do need this site'
As with anything in this world, our internet site is only as good as the people who use it. It was a big deal at first, but the shine has rubbed off and now it's feeling a little lonely. Can we make it a more useful and better site?.... Yes, but it all takes work. Perhaps we can think a little and come up with some long term goals for the site and figure out what it is we would like to achieve with it.
Second question..... well, I've sort of answered that.
So, who else is going to throw in their two cents??

Thanks Peter
Not bad 43 reads 3 replys from one.
I prefer a site with a slope and a breeze.
But...
We need this site as a place holder for the club. It does not need to be fabulous and dynamic. It can just contain the club description committee members and contact numbers at minimum. Don't worry if it isn't fabulous.
Don't forget to visit
Stanwell site

If you visit all these sites you miss out on flying
Yeah i think a website is needed, even if its just a Static page with the info that Bruce mentioned.
Im still happy to help out with the website, work out what you want and lets finish setting it up.
I think it needs
1. Up to date info on club contacts, meeting times and location.
2. Upcoming club events. Have a club member or 2 responsible for posting the information.
A basic static site with the updates mentioned above is probably all thats needed, But i dont think the forum hurts.
Maybe keen the front page for relevant Club info and put all the video posts etc in the forum?
I think it can also serve as a tool to help newer pilots and infor for members that cant / dont make the meetings?
I like the way the currant Melbourne Hanggliding Club website is setup. The"Learning Centre" , Club minutes and Newsletters get a lot of use. http://www.mhgc.asn.au/
